hpminerals0918HPF The Mineral Engineers introduces the masterbatch "Acrysmart" for acrylic glass, which changes its permeability to light and solar radiation as a function of the ambient temperature. In addition, new developments in the field of mineral high-performance fillers are shown.

Acrysmart acrylic sheets allow for automatic shading at higher temperatures and optimal daylighting at low temperatures. Solar energy can be used in a controlled manner, thus saving heating or cooling energy. Whether play of colors, shading or patterns and lettering created by heat: there are hardly any limits to creative freedom.

With the product family "Silatherm", it has been possible to develop novel fillers that significantly increase the thermal conductivity in plastics. At the same time, these fillers impart better mechanical strength to thermoplastics and thermosets. There are now five main product lines: Silatherm 1360, 1466, Plus, Lite and Advance. Through constant further development and trials in the in-house plastics engineering center, optimized particle size mixtures for higher fill levels are now also available. For all products, a much better homogenization can be achieved by the surface coating adapted to the polymer system. This leads to an even better mechanics and higher thermal conductivities.

Kaolins are phyllosilicates which, depending on the deposit, are more or less platelet-shaped. Kaolin TEC 110 has developed an extremely hexagonal quality with excellent reinforcement properties. By using the silanized types, the good mechanical properties and the incorporability are further improved. In addition, tests at the HPF Plastics Center showed that the use of kaolin TEC 110 AST can significantly reduce the use of expensive flame retardants. Kaolin releases water of crystallization on intense heating and thus effectively supports the effectiveness of the flame retardants in Synergy. Since kaolin is a natural product, there is no additional environmental impact in case of fire.
