Pyrometer for temperature measurement in metallurgy from 250 ° C

Optris pyrometer

16.01.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX | Optris has one color pyrometer developed for applications in metallurgy. A high level of vapours, dust and similar disturbing factors is the order of the day here. They all affect the non-contact temperature measurement negative. The new Pyrometer defies all these adverse conditions and guarantees a reliable measurement of temperatures in applications such as melting or on metallic surfaces.

In comparison to single-channel pyrometers, ratio pyrometers still deliver constant temperature measurement results even with dirty optics or with objects that move within the measuring field. The concept of the new pyrometer from Optris is based on the previous ratio pyrometer, which has proven itself in many installations ratio with fiber optics and separate evaluation electronics.

The addition of a pyrometer model with spectral sensitivity at 1,45 to 1,75 µm (2M) now enables non-contact measurements from 250 ° C. The models could also go up new calibration procedures be expanded. The infrared thermometer can now measure a maximum of 3000 ° C.

The new pyrometer measures with a remarkable accuracy. The measurement error is only 0,5%. Due to the short response time of 1 ms, very fast processes can be monitored with the infrared thermometer. Pyrometer temperature measurementA highlight of the new Ctratio pyrometer is the now used laser sighting with a wavelength of 520 nm.

"The integrated green aiming laser works at a wavelength at which the human eye shows its greatest sensitivity. This increases visibility by up to eight times compared to previously used red sighting lasers. A green laser is also much better on a red-hot metal surface or melt recognizable ", explained Torsten Czech, Head of Product Management at Optris GmbH. "Thanks to a separate electronics box and a fiber optic cable, our quotient pyrometer can still work without cooling even at an ambient temperature of up to 315 ° C".

Optris supplies the software for temperature analysis as standard Ratio Connect. It reliably records and evaluates data from non-contact temperature measurement. The user can also parameterize the quotient pyrometer on site via a USB interface and the free Android app Irmobile.

Optris has a free one for choosing a suitable pyrometer product configurator developed. This allows users to make their own individual configuration online.

Infrared temperature measurement on ultra-thin glasses

Optris infrared thermometer CTlaserG728.10.2019/XNUMX/XNUMX | Touch displays, such as for smartphones and tablets, use ultra-thin glass, the manufacture of which places special demands on the temperature measurement technology. Optris has the new infrared thermometer for this application CT Laser G7 brought on the market. It precisely measures the surface temperatures of glasses in the range from 100 ° to 1200 ° C.

Usually at Flat glass The optimal spectral range of 5 µm cannot be used with extremely thin glasses due to the higher transmission of the material. The CT Laser G7 works at a special wavelength of 7,9 µm. This spectral range is optimized for low-reflection measurements on ultra-thin flat glass. Measurement errors caused by the transmission of radiation through the glass are practically eliminated. The measurement error is only 1% of the measured value or 1,5 ° C at low temperatures.

The infrared thermometer has an integrated Double laser, which marks the exact measuring point and thus facilitates the set-up in the application. The smallest measuring spot size at a measuring distance of 70 mm is only 1,6 mm, so that the temperature can be measured even on very small objects. With a standardized two-wire interface, the measured values can be transmitted to a higher-level controller such as a PLC. The output can be tailored to the exact requirements of the application. For example, averaging, minimum or maximum value maintenance as well as an extended hold function with threshold value and hysteresis are possible.

Operate the infrared thermometer on a PC, mobile phone or via the app

Optris pyrometer appOptris pyrometers can also be easily operated with a smartphone or tablet. For this purpose, the specialist in infrared measurement technology has the IR mobile app developed for Android. This is available in the Google Play Store. The cumbersome fiddling with a laptop, for example during setup, is no longer necessary in many applications.

For pyrometers, support is at the Orientation particularly helpful. All parameters stored in the sensor can be set via the app. So can z. B. the analog output and, if necessary, an alarm threshold change very quickly and thus adapt to the application.

The setting of emissivity and other important parameters ensures optimal measurement results. Measurements can be recorded, saved and reloaded in the form of temperature-time diagrams.

The pyrometer is connected to the Android device via the micro USB or USB-C port - then the app starts automatically. Power is supplied via the USB port.

A simulator is included to test the app extensively. With this, most functions can be tried out without having to connect a pyrometer or an infrared camera. The app is suitable for most Android devices with a Micro-USB or USB-C port that support USB OTG (On-The-Go).
