A high level of reliability must be guaranteed for large roller bearings - after all, components with an outer diameter of up to 6100 mm and a weight of up to 20 t can only be replaced with great effort. At Rodriguez, the relevant know-how is available for large-dimension ball and roller slewing rings, ring gears and swivel drives.
"When it comes to producing slewing bearings, a lot has to be taken into account so that the end customer receives an optimal product," says Martin Stremmel, Product Manager at Rodriguez. "Of course, our customers attach great importance to a long service life of the components, especially in the area of these special bearings." Rodriguez achieves this with a correspondingly high-performance and precise machining of raceways and gears as well as precise control of the inductive hardening process. However, the greater potential lies in the engineering: Optimum performance is guaranteed through the individual calculation of raceways and gears as well as the dynamic load simulation using finite element methodology (FEM), which Rodriguez offers in cooperation. Longer life lubricants are also provided by optimally selected lubricants, properly designed maintenance intervals and technical support even after delivery and during operation of the bearing component.
In many applications, standard warehouses are out of the question in the first place - whether for constructional or economic reasons. In addition, not only an exceptional size is often needed, but the bearings must also meet special requirements. Rodriguez has already designed and implemented a large number of tailor-made solutions, which are used, for example, in lignite mining and in the offshore sector. "We also deliver tailor-made customized special designs at short notice," concludes Martin Stremmel. "Our individual engineering enables the construction of prototypes and the supply of identical spare parts for existing machines."
