The ball bushings from Dr. Tretter together with ground shafts form a precise linear guide without stroke limitation. The manufacturer offers a wide range of different variants - in cylindrical and flange designs or integrated in housing bearing units. In these roller bearings for longitudinal movements, a cage holds and guides the rotating balls. They roll around on the guide shaft and are returned via a channel. This allows unlimited linear movement. The shaft on which the ball bushing moves is usually mounted on both sides. This creates a self-supporting linear guide. This means that the guide system can be safely installed on uneven surfaces or used as a lifting guide, for example.

The cylindrically shaped ball bushing can be closed, slotted or open. For installation it must be inserted into a hole and secured. Open ball bushings are used with supported shafts. The slotted version is installed in slotted bearing housings. The user can adjust the play between the bushing and the guide shaft using a screw in the housing. Another form is the flange ball bushing, which is also available in double or triple guide length. Because it already has an integrated mounting flange, the ball bushing only needs to be screwed on.

The bearing units are cast iron or aluminum housings in which the ball bushings are already mounted. These are available in closed or open design, each also adjustable with slotted housing. In addition to the base housing with a single bearing, the bearing units are also available as tandem units with two ball bushings.
