When interconnecting on the top-hat rail, simple configuration and operation, security and high efficiency are required, especially for power supplies. The TDK-Lambda portfolio offered by Hy-Line Power Components meets these requirements.
Switching power supplies on the DIN rail have been a very popular power supply product for years. TDK-Lambda offers different series with voltages from 5 to 48 V and maximum output powers from 10 to 960 W. If required, peak loads of up to 150% of the nominal output current, explosion protection, Atex / IECEx approval IEC / EN 60079-0 & 60079-15 and Det Norske Veritas / Germanischer Lloyd Marine approval available. This means that the DIN rail power supplies can also be used in the most demanding applications, such as in industry, automation, test and measurement technology, marine, renewable energies, broadcasting and studio facilities or Ex environments.
If more reliability is required, the new DRM40 module can provide parallel and redundant connection of two power supplies: It has two 10 ... 30 V-DC inputs, each rated at 20 A rated current and one output at rated 40 A current. The output can be operated for up to 4 s with 150% rated load for both capacitive and inductive loads. Thanks to the use of Mosfets, the internal backfeed protection only requires 200 mV and thus reduces the voltage loss.
Typical fields of application for the DRM modules are applications in factory automation, process control as well as test and metrology, in which two power supply units are redundantly interconnected for a higher supply safety or in parallel to the power increase or for charging of batteries. Because of the low losses, the modules are also interesting for the mixed case, so if a second power supply to catch both high peak loads as well as redundancy (at normal load) deliver.
