Mitsubishi Electric extends its highly configurable and scalable "Menergy" monitoring portfolio for the transparent acquisition and analysis of energy data with a protection relay and a softstarter. The digital protection system "Meprotect", which is available for the first time on the European market, has a flexible and modular structure. Added to this is the digital soft starter "Mesoftstart", which also works in harsh environments.
The protection relay Meprotect offers the unique opportunity to use it in low and medium voltage projects. The highly configurable device provides information about power quality, load history and power requirements, providing valuable input for predictive maintenance. Setting up the conditions under which a warning message is issued or, if necessary, an emergency shutdown is to be carried out via the intuitive user interface.
"The Meprotect models are a key component of our monitoring solutions and extremely versatile - from simple motor protection to complex generator and transformer protection solutions," said Michael Finke, Product Manager of Low Voltage Switchgear at Mitsubishi Electric.
A uniform hardware and software platform guarantees problem-free expandability, while the connection to higher-level automation systems and the monitored plant components is easily implemented using fieldbus technology.
The second new component of the "Mesoftstart" energy system is a series of digital soft starters that ensure gentle engine start-up, even in harsh environmental conditions, thus contributing to electrical and mechanical system protection.
The Energy concept is rounded off by monitoring kits based on the EMU4-FD1-MB measuring module in three expansion stages: basic, easy and smart. This captures electrical characteristics such as voltage, current and harmonics for efficient energy management and cost savings.
