Torque measuring shaft determines four measured variables simultaneously

06.05.2021 | KTR Systems has a Torque measuring shaft developed which, for the first time, not only determines torque and speed, but also determines the direction of rotation and offers rotation angle measurement. The Dataflex series covers a measuring range from 50 to 20.000 Nm. The torque measurement technology is based on a measuring principle using strain gauges and is equipped with the latest electronic components.

Bearingless torque measuring shaft for the small torque

21.04.2021 | Men offers a standard without bearings Torque measuring shaftrange. Compared to the classic slip ring torque measuring shaft, these torque sensors measure the torque in the drive train without wear or force shunts. Even speeds up to 160.000 rpm-1 can therefore be achieved – high performance without annoying noise Warehouse.

Non-contact compact torque sensor in standard design

NCTE torque sensorsApril 15.04.2021, 3200 | NCTE offers standard non-contact torque sensors and accessories. The plug-and-play sensor portfolio extends across six series, which are divided according to area of application, nominal torque and measurement accuracy. Among them, the XNUMX series is a compact non-contact torque sensor that was specially developed for replacing standard sensors prevalent on the test bench.

NCTE's standard torque sensors are used instead of standard torque sensors in end-of-line tests and test benches. The measurement is carried out without contact based on inverse magnetostriction. The measurement is also transmitted wirelessly and wear-free.

The torque sensors are therefore maintenance-free and provide precise measured values even in the event of strong vibrations. Even water and oil do not affect the operation of the torque transducers. Inverse magnetostriction technology can be viewed as a complementary approach to traditional strain gauge (DMS) technology.

In addition to the plug-and-play torque sensors, NCTE also offers customer-specific sensor solutions for torque measurement such as applications in e-bikes, Agricultural engineering or in special applications like Formula 1.

Torque measurement technology makes machines more intelligent

“We make our customers' machines and developments more intelligent and efficient. Our standard portfoliosensors for torque measurement closes a gap in the market for cost-saving plug-and-play torque sensors in development and test environments,” says NCTE board member Jürgen Uebbing.

All standard torque sensors are developed and manufactured Made in Germany at the company headquarters. With short delivery times from stock, the DMS solutions are integrated into the applications via plug-and-play. Measuring ranges are available as standard between 0,5 Nm and 10.000 Nm. A higher speed can be checked upon request. The accuracy is sufficient for measurements of up to 0,1% at speeds of up to 10.000 rpm-1. The torque transducers are protected from dust with protection class IP50 as standard.

As options, NCTE offers, among other things, a customer-specific nominal torque, angle sensor or speed sensor. The output signals include 0-5 V / 0-10 V / 4-20 mA, CAN bus or USB and will be expanded to ± 5 V and ± 10 V in the future.

Torque measurement in the test bench

NCTE presents the 3200 series, a compact non-contact torque sensor that was specifically developed to replace the standard sensors used on the test bench. Compared to strain gauge sensors based on strain gauges, the magnetic technology of the 3200 impresses with its completely non-contact, maintenance-free measuring system with a compact design.

The 3200 series has an accuracy of less than ± 0,2% and is suitable for measuring ranges of ± 10, 20, 50 and 100 Nm and for speeds of up to 10.000 rpm-1 available. The length of the case is only 51 mm. The analog outputs 0-10 V and 4-20 mA, CAN bus or USB are available as signal outputs. It's not an external one Measuring amplifier necessary (plug-and-play).

Static and dynamic torques can be measured in real time. There is a round shaft and a square shaft. Each sensor has a protection class of at least IP50.

Torque sensors for large series, special applications or retrofitting

ncte0519May 22.05.2019, XNUMX | NCTE presents the smallest non-contact torque sensor for series applications. For an automotive supplier, the manufacturer implemented the sensor on a shaft not much thicker than a toothpick. Also see: how the non-contact torque sensors are suitable for internal measurements in hollow shafts and retrofitting into existing applications.

This makes it possible to retrofit systems and machines for the 4.0 industry. Whether for large series, special applications or retrofitting, in the smallest installation spaces, at temperatures up to 200 ° C or in water and oil, when it comes to measuring forces on a shaft is the magnetic technology.

With the help of magnetic fields, the torque sensors measure variables such as torque, force, shear, speed or bending in a non-contact and maintenance-free manner under the most difficult conditions such as extreme temperatures and vibrations. The torque sensors are used in e-bike drives from Fazua, on the racetrack at the Red Bull KTM MotoGP Factory Racing Team Medical Technology and in the vehicle construction as well as used by numerous industrial companies for process automation. The company is cooperating with Schaeffler. The collaboration is constantly developing and is being expanded across several industrial products.
