Who is Artiminds?

Artimind's Robotics is a German technology company specializing in the development of software solutions for the intuitive programming and control of industrial robots. The main products, such as the Artiminds Robot Programming Suite (RPS) and Artiminds Learning & Analytics for Robots (LAR), enable customers to efficiently integrate robots into industrial processes without in-depth programming knowledge.

A special feature is the combination of online and offline programming as well as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to Robot autonomous to optimize and adapt. 13.09.2024 | The Transformation Hub cable harness has the Robotics Challenge 2024 proclaimed to Automation of cable assembly. Content of the challenge: to automate a defined assembly process of the cable harness using commercially available components under specified conditions.

1. Identification and correct positioning of a socket housing into a holder
2. Inserting various contact parts into the housing according to a specified chamber configuration
3. Ensure that the contacts are correctly locked in the end position.

The task of the challenge represents the automation problem in wiring harness assembly with tolerance-prone and form-stable components such as Cable and Plugs Approaches to automate processes with flexible components often include new special hardware that is manufactured in small quantities and is new territory for maintenance in manufacturing companies.

Concept by Artiminds

The technology concept submitted by Artiminds Robotics offers a flexible and industrially robust automation that is based on the use of proven and directly available Standard hardware sets, including Robot, grab, Cameras and force-torque sensor and software.

The Robot Programming Suite (RPS) and Learning & Analytics for Robots (LAR) ensure a smooth combination of the individual components to form a robust production cell. Despite the complex sub-processes and tolerances that need to be compensated, flexible cable assembly is possible with a cycle time of less than 5 seconds on average per plug-in process.

The solution can be designed for different product variants and reconfigured cost-efficiently. centrepiece is the generated native program code that is executed directly on the robot controller. This allows robot programs to be seamlessly integrated into existing standards and workflows.

The results and competencies of all participating teams were presented and evaluated on April 11th as part of the Innovation Forum in the Arena 2036 in Stuttgart. For the robot solution they developed, Artiminds Robotics received the Award for best economic efficiencyIn addition to the technological approach and process reliability, the jury was particularly impressed by the extremely short cycle time compared to the competition.
