Torsion Control Products (TCP) developed a customer-specific coupling for a manufacturer of motor graders for road construction. With their special torsion characteristics, the durable and robust couplings dampen the drive train vibrations and remain operational even under the harshest operating conditions.
Motor graders are heavy equipment used for road maintenance and road construction. "Unpleasant and unacceptable" are words that a manufacturer of construction equipment did not necessarily want to hear when he was about to launch a new motor grader. After the tooling and final inspection before release for production, the operators had to find out that the motor grader showed in normal operation resonance phenomena that made him unsalable.
Since the couplings of the previous supplier could not meet the needs of the construction equipment manufacturer, he sent eight of his engineers to TCP. The local team determined the entire requirement profile and then received a solution. The result was a completely new spring clutch, which was adapted to the flanged to the engine gearbox. The first prototype was created in just four weeks. The new clutch went into production six weeks after the first meeting. Thanks to the fast processing of the project, the new motor grader could go into production in time.
