Framos offers with the new OLED microdisplay ECX335S series from Sony Semiconductor Solutions a solution that is suitable for the fast growing market of Augmented Reality (AR) devices. They are used in e.g. B. Head Mounted Displays (HMD), electronic viewfinders (VF) and as small monitors.
The ECX335S is an OLED panel module with active matrix color design, a brightness of up to 3000 cd / m² and a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 RGB pixels in a diagonal of 1,8 cm (0,71, 60 inch). A frame rate of XNUMX fps is possible even with low power consumption.

AR applications require a brightness of over 1000 cd / m². For the OLED microdisplay, this means that, due to transmission losses during the projection, it must have at least a setpoint of 3000 cd / m². By a clever combination of different measures increased Sony the Brightness of the new OLED microdisplays ECX335S compared to the predecessor three times with the same service life.
With its brightness properties, the extremely small form factor of 21,44 x 15,62 mm and a contrast ratio of 100.000: 1, this module will further advance the development of AR solutions. Information levels in the HMD and VF are displayed seamlessly and richly in contrast, thus ensuring a real Augmented Reality experience.

“The ECX335S modules offer ultra high contrast and a very large color space, a high response speed and an energy-saving function that extends the runtime in AR devices and wearables, ”says Sibel Yorulmaz-Cokugur, Sony expert at Framos. The orbit function prevents burn-in, i.e. the different aging of neighboring pixels.
