Micropelt has opened the world's first automated mass production of thermoelectric chips Halle / Saale. On 400 m² production area with tailored Cleanroom the company provides silicon wafers ago thermoelectric thin films and processes these to pinhead-sized micro-coolers, sensors and thermal generators. With unmatched power density create the world around 10 mm ² chip thermal generator electrical energy from freely available waste heat. Around 15 million euros will be invested to implement the already-won technical world leadership in an appropriate market success.
The company aims to cover the new market of thermal generators powered wireless sensors and micro actuators and is convinced that the processes and systems equipped soon with inexpensive wireless sensor networks, and hence can be monitored consistently. Operation and maintenance should be performed on the basis of then current actual values.
Hall prepares a team of production experts from all relevant disciplines from the start of production. Once the plant has reached full capacity, Micropelt aiming at a production hall in annual volume of five to ten million chips.
