With the Bluetooth Low Energy Standard, the new wireless single and multiple foot switches from Herga (distribution: Variohm) safely achieve the necessary reliability in everyday medical operations. The Bluetooth Smart network, with its electricity consumption reduced by 80%, is particularly suitable and energy-efficient for standardized radio communication between switches and switching receivers.
With a range of up to 10 m and a latency of just 0,1 s, the system can be used with one or two transmitters, each of which can trigger up to eight different switching functions. The transmission of an analog signal is also possible with the Bluetooth Low Energy standard. The wireless foot switches therefore offer exceptional flexibility for controlling medical devices.
LEDs constantly indicate the state of charge of the batteries and provide support for transmitter-receiver balancing during start-up. To extend the battery life, an automatic sleep function after 15 or 60 min sleep time can be activated. With the first switching operation, the switch-receiver connection is then revived. The receiver modules provide a switching output (active = low) and require 5 VDC (max 100 mA) for power supply.
